GT, S, 4 and Turbo - do you know the iconic abbreviations?

Discover what lies behind the iconic model designations.

Model designations

Iconic model designation for 4

The '4' in the model designation indicates all-wheel drive models, which are also offered with rear-wheel drive.

Iconic model designation for T

The letter T stands for 'Touring' and denotes the entry-level model with reduced equipment and the base engine. Today, its direct setup and sporty equipment provide an emotionally engaging, purist driving experience. The 6-speed sport manual transmission further enhances the sense of active driving pleasure.

Iconic model designation for S

At Porsche, S stands for “Sport”: a more powerful version which, in addition to the extra sporty engine, also includes improvements in equipment compared to the basic model.

Iconic model designation for GTS

At Porsche, the abbreviation GTS stands for 'Grand Touring Sport', distinctive design elements, and a sporty standard specification. High-performance engines and chassis systems consistently designed for performance offer that extra dose of sportiness while maintaining strong everyday usability and long-distance comfort.

Iconic model designation for turbo

The Turbo is the top model, the limit of what is possible, a technological pioneer. Today, at Porsche, Turbo no longer refers to a technology, but instead marks the most powerful variants. The all-electric flagship models of the Taycan, Macan and Cayenne show that the model designation is no longer tied to the use of turbochargers.
